I stumbled into 7 keys that are vital for a relationship to grow into a successful marital relationship, and I want to show them to you in a series. But first let me share how I received this.
I was reading a book by Bishop David Oyedepo and came across a statement I have heard him say a couple of times “I and my wife have never quarreled”. It rocked my world. “Is that even possible”, I thought. But every time he makes this statement, he ends with because of a 7 point revelation. On this particular day the statement provoked me. Why will he always say its because of a 7 point revelation and not tell what it is? I dropped the book in anger and focus on my room mates who were talking to each other. “At least they’d explain any point they made that I didn’t understand”, I thought to myself.
After few minutes, I heard the Holy Spirit speak to me. He asked me “why did you drop the book?”, I answered telling him “because he will never say what the 7 point revelation is”. He asked me “what did he call it?”, I answered “a 7 point revelation”. The Holy Spirit then asked me “who gives revelations”. “You of course”, I replied. “Why then won’t you ask me?” I picked up the book again and read through until I came to the point where he said it, then I asked the Holy Spirit, what is this 7 point revelation. He answered saying “2Peter 1:5”.
Eagerly, I picked my bible and opened it. This is what greeted me:
5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; 6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
I counted the things I was to have with faith as the foundation. They were 7. Virtue, Knowledge, Temperance, Patience, Godliness, Brotherly Kindness, and of course Love (charity). Then it went on to say:
8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
If I had these in increasing measure, they made sure as it relates to all areas of my life my knowledge of Christ produces fruits. That includes my relationship.
The Holy Spirit then took me on a journey showing me how I could live without quarrelling with my spouse. It is real. It works, and I want to show it to you.
